With thanks to Laverne Condappa-Ward, Co-Chair of our staff BAME network, for sharing a colleague's viewpoint on the importance of telling these stories within our community.

Historic links to slavery are not who we are today, with staff, students and alumni taking action to address inequalities in their personal and professional lives. Nonetheless, without understanding how our past affects present inequalities, our work in addressing discrimination and inequality today is diminished.
