With academic roots stretching back to 1824 and claims for 25 Nobel prizes, The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø is one of the world’s leading institutions. This is confirmed in numerous rankings, including the places the University 40th in the world.
Our world-class campus has benefited from a £1 billion investment in teaching and research facilities. These include the new £400 million engineering campus opened in 2022 and the completed £105 million Henry Royce Institute, which is the UK’s National Institute for Advanced Materials Research and Innovation. It also includes the £85 million refurbishment of the ‘triple-crowned’ (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) Alliance Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø Business School.
These facilities, together with our acclaimed teaching (once again top ten in Europe, Times Higher Education: Teaching Ranking), give our students opportunities to enjoy an engaging and enriching student experience across our portfolio of programmes. The city of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø
The single-site campus is at the heart of the city of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø. Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø is one of the UK’s, and world’s, most popular student cities – a buzzing modern metropolis and a vibrant, cosmopolitan, friendly place to live and learn.
Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø has one of the most diverse populations in the UK with more than 200 languages spoken, restaurants and shops to cater to a wide range of taste and dietary requirements, as well as faith facilities to support those who follow the world’s major religions.
We understand the needs of our Muslim staff and students, as well as those of other faiths and beliefs. Our food outlets sell halal food and prayer rooms are widely available on campus. In addition, there are a number of mosques close to the University and within the city itself.
It is budget-friendly for international students as rent tends to be more reasonable than in other locations. Many amenities are within walking distance of the campus with most of the shops, theatres, cafes and restaurants just a short stroll away.

Entry requirements
General requirements
If you are studying A-levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) then you can apply for ‘direct entry’ to the first year of a bachelor’s degree.
Certificate of Nile International Secondary Education (CNISE)
We accept the CNISE for ‘direct entry’ to the first year of a bachelor’s degree. Entry requirements for CNISE candidates are based on three Level 3 examinations at specified grades. CNISE Level 3 exams are directly equivalent to the GCE A Levels referred to on course profiles; therefore, please refer to individual degree programmes for subject and grade requirements. Where a subject is required at GCSE level, this should be achieved at the equivalent grade at Level 1.
Thanaweyyah A’ama
Due to differences in the Egypt and UK education systems, applicants who have taken the Thanaweyyah A’ama are required to complete a University-recognised foundation programme before joining an undergraduate course:
Students who have achieved an overall Thanaweyyah A’ama (or Tawjihi, secondary school certificate) grade of 90% or higher with a minimum of 90% in Mathematics and Physics would be considered for the . Applications for the University’s Biosciences with a foundation year programme will be considered following completion of the Thanaweyyah A’ama (or Tawjihi, secondary school certificate) on a case by case basis.
Students who have achieved an overall Thanaweyyah A’ama (or Tawjihi, secondary school certificate) grade of 85% or higher would be considered for the foundation programmes (Engineering and Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (including Management and Law), Biosciences, Pharmacy and Psychology) run in partnership with the University by INTO Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø. Subject-specific requirements may apply.
Diplomas from technical colleges may be considered for foundation or first year entry on a case-by-case basis.
For master’s programmes we consider a first degree from a recognised Egyptian university with a high percentage or GPA.
Egyptian master’s degrees from recognised universities (classified as Merit or above, or equivalent) are generally considered for PhD entry at The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø.
When assessing your academic record, we may consider not only your overall grade average, but also your performance relative to peers (such as class rank or percentile), the academic rigour of your programme and the reputation and standards of the institution at which the qualification was completed. Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates evidencing academic excellence demonstrated within a demanding educational context who also exhibit future potential. 
English language requirements
All applicants to the University (from the UK and overseas) are required to show evidence of English language proficiency.
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires that every student from outside the UK and the EU must show evidence of a minimum level of English language in order to be granted a UK visa (Tier 4 visa) to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level. This level is often referred to as the ‘B2 level’.
Additionally, our individual Schools may ask for specific English language proficiency levels that are necessary for their academic programmes. In most cases these requirements are likely to be higher than the B2 level. Further information about our English language policy, including a list of some of the English language qualifications we accept, can be found .
Some Schools ask that the appropriate score has been met before you apply for a course, while others give conditional offers subject to applicants achieving our general entry requirement level of English language proficiency before starting the course.
Under certain circumstances, the University may consider IGCSE/O-level English, or International Baccalaureate Language (English) or Language and Literature (English) at high grades as a recognised English language qualification.
Other entry requirements
Please note that this is generic information only. Faculties and Schools have different entry requirements and some qualifications may not be acceptable for certain courses, so it is important to check with the School directly before you apply.
Some courses have additional entry requirements such as previous work experience, submission of written work with the application or previous study of a particular subject.
Study abroad
If you are currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student at any accredited university or college of higher education outside of the UK, you can apply to spend a semester or full year here at The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø.
We offer year/semester abroad programmes as well as participating in a number of exchange partnerships with key European and worldwide universities. Most students joining us for study abroad do so in their third year (of a four year degree) although we do also accept applications from second and final year students.
Minimum entry requirements for study abroad students are a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.

Global Futures Scholarships 2027
The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø is proud to offer more than 350 awards to international students commencing their studies in September 2027. The total value of scholarships offered will be more than £6 million, and awards will be open to students applying for undergraduate and master’s degrees.
Undergraduate awards
We're proud to offer a number of merit-based undergraduate scholarships of up to £36,000 (£12,000 per year over three years) to international students from a selection of countries across the globe.
Please note: the application form will only be made available once you've applied for an eligible course and received an offer.
Each award comprises £12,000 for the first year of study with a further £12,000 awarded in second and third years. Continuation of the award is conditional on attainment of 60% in final exams and assessments each year. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of a discount on published international tuition fees.
Students must be taking one of the following qualifications: A-level, IB or AP’s (American Diploma).
Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence, predicted and achieved grades, and your responses to questions in the online application form, which'll be emailed to all eligible offer-holders.
Awardees will primarily be selected based on academic merit, but the University may also consider the overall composition of the scholarship cohort, including representation across academic programmes, domicile, gender and qualification background.
- Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in Egypt.
- To be considered as 'domiciled' in Egypt, you must have predominantly lived there during the last three years.
- We consider your permanent country of residence to be the country you're ordinarily resident, not a country where you're only living for full-time education.
Applicants must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2027 and have, or be working towards, one of the following qualifications: A-levels, IB Diploma, AP (American Diploma).
- Application deadlines will vary by the qualification taken.
- Scholarship applications from A-level, IB and AP’s will be assessed on any previous exams, predicted grades in the above-listed qualifications and the strength of the personal statement.
- You must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- You must have selected The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø as your 'Firm' UCAS choice by 24 May 2027.
- The award applies only to full-time courses delivered at The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø’s UK campus.
Not eligible
- Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or any courses with an integrated foundation year.
- Applicants who've previously studied in the UK.
- Blended and distance learning programmes.
The application form will be emailed automatically to all eligible applicants shortly after an academic offer is made. Forms will be emailed from December 2026 until the closing date.

Master’s awards
The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø is proud to offer more than 250 merit-based master’s scholarships to prospective international students from a range of countries across the globe.
The value of The Global Futures Scholarships for African students is £19,000. Scholarships will be awarded as a discount on published overseas tuition fees.
Within Africa, the awards are open to applicants domiciled in the following countries: Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Please note: the application form will only be made available once you've applied and been made an offer (either conditional or unconditional).
The scholarships of £19,000 will be awarded based on academic excellence and the quality of your online application form.
Scholarships will be awarded as a discount on published overseas tuition fees.
- Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Botswana, Mauritius, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
- To be considered as 'domiciled' in these countries, you must have predominantly lived there during the last three years.
- We consider your permanent country of residence to be the country you're ordinarily resident, not a country where you're only living for full-time education.
- You must hold an unconditional offer to study a full-time, on-campus master’s course at The University of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø starting in September 2027 by 20 April 2027 and submit an online scholarship application form by the same deadline. The form will be emailed to all eligible offer-holders.
- You'll be considered based on academic merit and the quality of your scholarship application, but we'll try to achieve a balance by gender, domicile and course in the allocation of the awards.
- Awardees will primarily be selected based on academic merit, but the University may also consider the overall composition of the scholarship cohort, including representation across academic programmes, domicile, gender and qualification background.
- You must be self-funded (not sponsored).
Not eligible
- MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), MA Architecture and Digital Design, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees.
- Some ‘Master’s by Research’ courses (see terms and conditions below).
- Those who've studied a Bachelor’s degree outside of Africa.
- Blended and distance learning programmes.

Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø graduates have an excellent reputation among employers. We are the most targeted university by major UK graduate employers (). The Times and Sunday Times recently recognised Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø as ‘the university of the year for graduate employment’. Many of our academic Schools offer career-related course units and lectures delivered by employers who will explain exactly what they are looking for in recruits.
In addition, we maintain links with more than 7,000 UK and global employers. This enables us to ensure teaching and course content are relevant to the needs of industry and commerce so our graduates leave not just with academic knowledge but also with the transferable skills needed to be successful on their chosen career path.
At Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø we are mindful of the concerns of prospective students from Russia regarding opportunities to improve career prospects by gaining work experience post-graduation in the UK. Our Careers Service has including the new which will offer Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø graduates the possibility of staying in the UK for two further years to work, or look for work, at any skill level. Many of our undergraduate programmes feature the opportunity for industrial/professional experience and the offers fantastic support to budding entrepreneurs.
